ART THERAPY IN LIMERICK PRISON

In 2014 PALLS introduced a pilot programme of one-to-one and group Art Therapy for ex-offenders within the PALLS centre. In 2015 this initiative was expanded to include prisoners in Limerick prison. This initiative offers the target group a safe and confidential space for personal growth work and improved mental well-being and has been very well received by the clients. The outcomes to date are impressive.

This service is an excellent example of integration and collaboration between agencies. Limerick Prison, the Probation Service, the Bedford Row Family Project and PALLS all benefit from this service. The sharing of resources in the form of venues, materials and staff and the cross pollination of ideas and information has enhanced the effectiveness of each individual service and facilitates the delivery of supports to a large number of very vulnerable clients
